Our Teachers (Not in any particular order) Matthew Jacobs is a writer-director-actor best known for his writing credits on DOCTOR WHO (The 1996 TV Movie), THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE, YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES and the cult classic PAPERHOUSE.. His directing credits include the feature films HALLELUJAH ANYHOW (that played Sundance 1992), MOTHERTIME, and most recently YOUR GOOD FRIEND (2014) and the award-winning BAR AMERICA (2015). As an actor he has co-starred in several features including BOXING DAY, MISTER NICE and this year can be seen as the Igor-equivalent in Bernard Rose's new adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN for Alchemy Films. Don Starnes is an award winning Director of Photography, Producer and Director with thirty years of experience shooting in amazing places with fascinating people. He has photographed a dozen features, innumerable documentaries lots of commercials, web series, TV shows, music and corporate videos. His work has been featured on National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Comedy Central, HBO, MTV, VH1, Speed Channel, Nerdist, and many theatrical and festival screens. Don believes that movies can reveal our common humanity and ennoble us. This belief has subtle influence on every frame that he shoots. Jeffrey Weissman has appeared in over 50 motion pictures, and TV shows and in over 100 stage productions. Most notably co-starring on film as George McFly in Back to the Future Part II and III, as Teddy Conway in Pale Rider with Clint Eastwood, with John Lithgow in Twilight Zone the Movie, and many Television guest star spots; Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Max Headroom, Dallas, The Man Show, Diagnosis: Murder and as Screech's Guru "The High Geek" on Saved by the Bell. From big budget majors to low budget indies, Jeffrey has a rich treasure of experience that he draws from when teaching. He studied at the American Conservatory Theater, San Francisco State University, at three renowned acting studios; Jackie Benton, Peter Flood, and Harvey Lembeck. Jeffrey has performed improvisation with Second City Alumni, Los Angeles Theater Sports, Bay Area Theater Sports, 6th St Improv, Evil Comedy Group, Leela, Kidprov and others. He has been artistic director of several troupes. He's taught at San Francisco School of Digital Film Making, San Francisco High School of the Arts (SOTA), Sonoma State University, Dominican University, and at workshops at film festivals and expos around the country. He's currently teaching on camera acting in Sausalito. Elaine Clark is an experienced Voice-Over and On-Camera actor, the author of There's Money Where Your Mouth Is, creator of the voice and diction app: Activate Your Voice, and owner/founder of Voice One. Film principal on-camera and ADR credits include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Master, Super 8, Titan A.E., La Mission, My Name is Kahn, Librarian 2. In addition to acting, she has cast and directed over 75 video games, 2 anime cartoon series, 200 toys, and hundreds of commercial and narration voiceovers. Ben Yennie is Co-Founder and VP of Business Development at ProductionNext, A Market Network for the Film, Video, television, advertising, and any moving media creation Industries. He's also the Founder and CEO of Guerrilla Rep Media, and founder at Producer Foundry. Former Chapter Leader for the Institute for International Film Finance for San Francisco, Vancouver, New York, and Los Angeles, where he hosted and organized more than 50 seminars on Film Finance. He also screened business plans for an elite group of Angel Investors known as The Film Angels. He's represented projects Directed by Christopher Coppola, others starring big name talent like Marvel's Luke Cage, and has sold those films to several outlets including Starz. in 2015 he had a 100% offer rate for the films he took to AFM. He's also the author of the book, The Guerrilla Rep: American Film Market Distribution Success on No Budget, currently available used as a text at 10 film schools and available at Barnes and Nobles, Amazon in both print and e-book form, as well as hard copies at more than 100 independent bookstores nationwide. Additionally has attached well known starts to projects, including Jodelle Ferland of Twilight: Eclipse and Claudia Christian of Babylon 5. He's also worked in the Tech industry in various capacities of business development, most notably being VP of Sales for an Early Stage startup called Taal, A mobile interview platform meant to streamline the hiring process of the hospitality industry. He developed their sales model, as well as helping to define the business plan, and got them their first few clients. He has also worked periodically with various casting studios, and has worked in the financial and insurance industries with companies like Primerica and American Income Life. Ben Studied at the Colorado Film School and Academy of Art University. Marcus Sams is a professionally working actor and full time improv teacher in San Francisco. He teaches for SF Acting Academy, Pictoclik Film Festival, Leela, Improv w/Marcus, and at improv festivals and schools across the nation. He has a degree in Theatre Arts and his improv has been forged by the teachings of David Razowsky, Susan Messing, Joe Bill and Mark Sutton and many other nationally known teachers. His teaching style combines theatrical craft, systematic approaches, empathy training, and leading with the heart. This combination yields truthful and grounded scene work that is fraught with honest hilarity and from a theatrical stand point, technically polished performances. He believes that improv is theatre and that it can have all the cathartic elements of scripted theatre when commitment to craft is pursued vigorously. Sams has taught for The Gainesville Improv Festival 2011, The California Improv Festival 2014, Improvaganza - Hawaii Festival of Improv 2015, and for the San Diego Improv Festival 2016. Marcus performs with Leela’s Armando Company, Liss N’ Sams, and Shades of Grey. He has performed in over a dozen improv festivals across the country including: Improvaganza (Hawaii Festival of Improv) 2014 & 2015, The Gainesville Improv Festival 2011, Chicago Improv Festival 2015, The San Francisco Improv Festival 13 times, The San Diego Improv Festival 2015 & 2016, The California Improv Festival 2014, Sonoma LaughFest 2015, and was accepted into Philadelphia's DuoFest. Dave Moutray, an award-winning Director and Screenwriter, has a M.A. in English and an M.F.A. in Screenwriting, and is co-founder of Crux Jinx Productions, LLC in San Francisco, CA. Originally from the Midwest, he found his love for film fulfilled in the Bay Area, and is founder of the Bay Area Film Mixer, which allows filmmakers from all over the Bay to network and create a tighter community of like-minded film professionals. As a filmmaker, his focus is character and story-driven narratives, regardless of genre. After winning awards for his short films, he tackled his first feature film, LOSING HER, which won Best Feature at the Noor Film Festival in Los Angeles and the Golden Ace Award at the Las Vegas International Film Festival, and is now in post-production on another called SUNGAZERS. Dave has been trained by Matthew Jacobs (EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE, DR. WHO, PAPERHOUSE) and Robert Keats (head of Screenwriting department at Academy of Art University), and wholeheartedly believes as Alfred Hitchcock did, that “[to] make a great film you need three things – the script, the script and the script”.
